Search & Rescue Dog Foundation
In 2011, I decided to participate in Create-A-Thon with my friends at Hypno Design. My assignment was to design a logo, website, brochure, postcard, bumper sticker and t-shirt (for free) in 24 hours… starting NOW! In a flurry of activity, our team (a copywriter, web developer and myself) started at 8am on Thursday. By 8am on Friday, we were done. And as a side bonus, our client at the Search & Rescue Dog Foundation cried tears of joy when we presented the work. All in all, a successful 24 hours! Check out the site here.

Kodak’s Interactive Exhibit at PRINT09
Winner of a Design Distinction Award in I.D. Magazine’s Annual Design Review 2010, I’m proud and honored to have been part of the team that worked on such a successful project. Working as an art director on a team that included representatives from Mirror Show Management, Obscura Digital, and Partners & Napier, I helped to design and implement an immersive digital experience for Kodak that debuted at PRINT09 and continues to have success touring with their exhibits. This flexible digital platform was created to replace Kodak’s heavy printing equipment at the shows, while providing attendees with an efficient and effective way to gather information on the newest products.

“I have to believe the beauty and simplicity of the installation itself said at least as much to consumers about Kodak’s brand as the content it displayed.”

Art Direction at Photokina 2008
Photokina is the world’s largest tradeshow for the photographic and imaging industries, happening every 2 years in Cologne, Germany, with over 160,000 visitors and almost 1,500 exhibitors in 2008. Having established a level of trust with Mirror Show Management’s Kodak client due to the success of their booth at Photokina 2006, I coordinated the efforts of multiple teams (exhibit designers, graphic designers, and a production company) to provide Kodak with a massive multimedia installation, imaginative photo sets, product demonstration environments and on-brand booth design that helped attract attendees and keep them engaged with Kodak products.
My responsibilities at Photokina 2008 included:
- Art direction and graphic design of exhibit
- Model selection, attire and makeup, direction of makeup artist and models on show site
- Storyboards, art direction of multimedia production using external team, Pacific Media
- Photo set and interior “home” environment design

Event design
When a production company came to MSM looking for assistance in pulling together a proposal for a posh event at the Waldorf Astoria hotel in NYC, I was assigned to the job in the role of art director. After reviewing the brief with the production company I visited the site, spoke with the hotel event manager about logistics, measured the rooms and developed a traffic flow plan. I then sourced furniture (client’s budget required rental) and designed lighting and graphics to help direct this flow, while merging well with the existing Art Deco decor of the Waldorf.
Working with an exhibit designer, Erick Gustafson, we developed a series of renderings to describe this visual direction for the proposal.

Presentations
Sample RFP Presentation (5.8MB)
When one of MSM’s oldest clients went out to bid for RSNA 2010, we put together this presentation as a response. I worked to implement the client’s new brand campaign using the visual direction of a colleague, expanding this across multiple touchpoints pre-, during and post-show. I also constructed the interactive PDF presentation, supported the exhibit designers with visuals and direction for their renderings, and helped to write some of the copy in this presentation.
Sample Sales Team Presentation (2MB)
Using the client’s template, I developed this presentation for their sales team to explain the new interactive elements incorporated into the exhibit at Print09. This presentation was provided with more information in the notes section for the presenter, as I was unable to assist in the presentation. The interactive UI design was done in collaboration with Obscura Digital and Partners & Napier (the client’s agency of record), while the 3D exhibit design was developed by MSM. For more information on my role in this project, please view the portfolio PDF available under Art Direction.
Sample Concept Presentation (4.4MB)
Anticipating the need for innovation in one of our client’s award-winning exhibits, I worked with a small team to develop some interactive concepts to present to this client at the end of 2009. After researching trends in the industry, analyzing the possibilities of existing booth structure, as well as working directly with the account executive, project manager and client contact, I came up with a range of concepts. The VP of design at MSM came up with sketches to illustrate these ideas, which I then colored in and fleshed out with storyboards and other visuals. After constructing this interactive PDF, I assisted the account team in a series of in-person presentions to the client.
